Worldschool: Expanding Our Awareness
Worldschooling—a term I didn't even know a few years ago—has become such an important part of how we see education.
Experiential education.
This week on our podcast, Kent and I share our understanding and lived experience of worldschooling. Recalling how it unfolded for us has encouraged me to become aware, once again, of all the opportunities we have to learn.
I guess that's what it's all about anyway.
Expanding our awareness of what's possible in education.
Using the world and our lived experiences as a classroom.
We're back in traditional school now—and at a school that also encourages experiential learning, both inside and outside the classroom. They've even created a new program for students to explore areas of interest.
That's something we're excited to see: education systems broadening the scope of learning.
When we were deciding whether to embark on our journey, we first met with our daughter's school to make sure her educational needs would be met. That was a top priority for us.
I also met with a friend who is a principal at a local elementary school. She had successfully overseen the implementation of an Expeditionary Learning model, with its focus on project-based learning, real-world connections and character development.
She gave our world adventure—and our approach to worldschooling—her seal of approval as well.
With that foundation in place, and growing confidence in our belief that the world could be our classroom, we embarked on the greatest adventure.
And now, looking back, I realize that worldschooling didn't just change how we traveled.
It changed how we see learning.
If you know someone who's curious about worldschooling, please pass this along and share this week's podcast episode with them. We've also created a free Worldschool Get Started Guide to help families begin exploring what it could look like for them.
We'd love to spread the word.
Because for us, it changed our lives.
With Gratitude,
Michelle

🎧 The Frenchitivity Podcast: Worldschooling: Where to Start?
What happens to your child’s education when your family decides to travel the world? 🌎
In Episode 30, Kent & Michelle share how they approached Everly’s education before their 10-month journey, the support they found by asking questions at her school, and how their understanding of worldschooling evolved once they were on the road.
From castles in Portugal and ancient Greek ruins to the Great Barrier Reef and the people they met along the way, they reflect on how learning began showing up in places they never could have planned—and why those experiences changed how they see education today.
If you’ve ever wondered whether worldschooling could work for your family, this conversation is a place to begin.

This week's reflection:
This week, notice one ordinary moment that might hold an opportunity to learn.
A question your child asks.
A conversation.
A place you’ve been a hundred times.
Instead of moving past it, try asking:
“What could we discover here?”
You don’t need to turn it into a lesson.
Maybe you simply follow the curiosity a little further.
The world becomes a classroom when we approach it with curiosity. 🌎
✨ Closing
Thank you for being here.
We're grateful to be sharing this journey with you.
