🧠What is Home?
A weekly dose of possibility and grounded action from Michelle & Kent of the Frenchitivity Family
✨ Opening Quote
“As our lives expand, perhaps our sense of home can expand with us.”

What is Home?
Is home a place?
A feeling?
The people we're surrounded by?
I've been thinking about that question a lot this week.
It was my Grandpa's birthday—someone I lost when I was only eight years old, but whose place in our family's story remains. We celebrated an anniversary in our family and the birthday of a dear friend. Kent hosted a fundraising event for a former client who became a friend. And we showed up for Everly's community through her aerial fundraiser and dance-a-thon.
None of these moments seemed particularly connected at first.
But looking back, I realized they all had something in common.
Belonging.
I've always thought traditions and milestones help create a sense of home. We celebrate the people who are still with us. We remember those who are not. We carry forward traditions we've inherited and create new ones of our own.
And somewhere along the way, friends become chosen family. Communities become part of our story. Places we never expected to matter to us begin to feel familiar.
Maybe our definition of home gets bigger.
This week's podcast guests experienced that quite literally. As their family traveled by RV, they discovered places across the country they'd never been before that somehow felt like home.
That idea stayed with me.
Our own travels expanded our sense of home, too. We found belonging in unexpected places. And since returning, I've started to think that maybe home expands with us—shaped by the people, places and experiences we collect along the way.
Home can be the people who have known us through different chapters of our lives.
And sometimes, home can be arriving somewhere completely unfamiliar and having something inside you quietly say, I could belong here.
Maybe home isn't something we find once.
Maybe we keep creating it—by staying connected to the people who matter, making room for community and clearing space for connection.
With Gratitude,
Michelle

They Sold the Farm to Travel Full-Time
What happens when home stops being one place?
This week, we talk with Melissa McElfresh, whose family quite literally sold the farm, stepped away from the life they had built and began traveling full-time in an RV.
Two years later, Melissa says something about their journey that stayed with us: they've discovered places across the country that can somehow feel like home the moment they arrive—even though they've never been there before.
We talk about getting off the hamster wheel, roadschooling, creating a new business on the road, facing the fears that come with choosing an unconventional path—and what their family has discovered by having more time together.
Their version of home looks very different today than it once did.
And perhaps their story leaves us wondering whether home has as much to do with how we feel when we're together as it does with where we happen to be.
