🧭 The Weekly Compass
A weekly dose of possibility and grounded action from Michelle & Kent of the Frenchitivity Family
✨ Opening Quote
"Connection doesn't happen because we're near one another. It happens because we're willing to know one another."
This Week's Direction
What Makes a Community?
Have you ever been surrounded by people...
and still felt lonely?
Or, in a room full of people and flet like noone actually sees you?
I have.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the word community.
It's a word we use often, but I'm beginning to wonder if we sometimes confuse proximity with community.
Seeing the same parents at school drop-off, sitting on the sidelines together during a practice, running into familiar faces at the grocery store.
Over time, those repeated interactions begin to feel like community.
Or are they simply familiarity?
The more I sit with that question, the more I believe community asks something more of us.
More presence.
More vulnerability.
More shared purpose.
More choosing one another.
Real community is made up of people who truly see you and who know what you're carrying. Who celebrate your joys.
Who remind you who you are when you've forgotten.
It grows through shared values, shared experiences, and a willingness to show up for one another.
One of the questions we're asked often about our year of travel is:
"Didn't you get lonely?"
Ironically...
Some of the deepest friendships we formed happened while we were constantly moving.
Not because travel magically creates connection, but because we found ourselves in places where people had already made many of the same choices we had.
Families who had stepped away from convention.
Who valued curiosity.
Who believed learning could happen anywhere.
Who wanted to spend more time together.
The filter was already there. We were beginning with shared values.
That changed everything.
This week's podcast is about one of those places—the Bliss Worldschool Hub in Koh Lanta, Thailand—a community that became one of the most meaningful chapters of our journey.
It reminded us that community isn't something you stumble into.
It's something you intentionally build.
Whether you're traveling the world...
Or simply choosing to go one conversation deeper with the people already around you.
Maybe that's the invitation this week...not to find more people, but to become part of a deeper community.
With Gratitude,
Michelle

🎧 The Frenchitivity Podcast: Koh Lanta, Thailand | Finding Community Around the World
In Part 3 of our Thailand Travel Series, we arrive in one of the most meaningful destinations of their 10-month journey around the world: Koh Lanta.
What began as another stop on the itinerary quickly became something much bigger.
It became home.
On their very first evening, Michelle encouraged the family to attend a pool party hosted by the Bliss World School Hub—a decision that would completely change their experience in Thailand. Suddenly, they weren't simply traveling anymore. They had found something they didn't even realize they were searching for: community.

🌱 Something New is Growing
For the past several months, we've been quietly building something that has become incredibly meaningful to our family.
It's called Roots & Wings.
It was born from the questions we've been asked over and over again:
How did you make a 10-month journey around the world possible?
How did you educate Everly while traveling?
How did you navigate work, finances, logistics, and the emotional side of making such a big life change?
And, as have continued these conversations, we've realized Roots & Wings is about something even bigger.
It's for thoughtful families who feel the pull toward living more intentionally—whether that means traveling the world, creating more freedom, or simply building a life that feels more aligned with their values.
We're preparing to open the doors to our Founding Members and we believe the best communities are built with the people they serve. As a Founding member, you'll get an early look and have the opportunity to help shape how this membership grows and evolves from the very beginning.
If that sounds like something you've been waiting for, we'd love to invite you to join the Priority List.
You'll be the first to hear when we open the doors, receive behind-the-scenes updates as we build, and have early access when Roots & Wings officially launches.
We can't wait to welcome you.
Yes, I want to be the first one notified!
🧭Compass Shift
This week's reflection:
This week, notice the difference between being around people and being truly known.
Choose one relationship you'd like to deepen.
Ask one question that invites a real conversation.
Then stay a little longer.
Sometimes community doesn't begin with finding new people.
Sometimes it begins by going one conversation deeper.
✨ Closing
Thank you for being here.
We're grateful to be sharing this journey with you.
